What is Timeline?

Timeline is a chronological list of each Point or Reward recorded in your school. It’s great for understanding what's happening in real-time with students and teachers throughout the building.

In this article, we cover the information you see on Timeline, and ways you can filter Timeline to dig into the details of your data.

Navigate to Timeline

Click on Insights and then Timeline.

Timeline is one of the reporting tools in Insights.

Behavior Details

Clicking on a row will expand it to show more details.

Click on a row to see more details including:

  1. The date and time the Point or Reward was recorded

  2. The location of the point

  3. The Roster being viewed when the Point or Reward was recorded

  4. The value of the Point or Reward

  5. The type: merits, demerits, or Rewards

  6. The name of the behavior that was recorded

  7. The student(s) who earned the Point

  8. A comment, if included with the Point

  9. The name and profile picture/initials of the teacher who recorded the Point or Reward

  10. An undo button (for merits and demerits. See how to remove a Reward here)

Undo Points

Delete a Point

You can undo any Point you’ve recorded (Admins can undo Points recorded by anyone), by clicking the X next to the record on Timeline.

Rewards cannot be refunded on the Timeline, instead, use our Refund a Reward directions or reach out to support@liveschoolinc.com.

Filter Timeline

Select the filter icon for each column it appears for and choose the specifics you'd like displayed. You can filter for merits, demerits, or Rewards, the type of Behavior or Item, student name, or teacher name.

You can filter Timeline to see everything recorded for a specific Point, student, teacher, or show only merits, demerits, or Rewards.

You can also set multiple filters, like in the example above. For example, you could set a filter to see all merits for one or multiple students issued by a specific teacher.

Just click on the heading of the column for what you'd like to filter. You can add multiple filters to the same column too.

Change the Timeframe

Click on the calendar icon in the top, right corner.

Timeline is always sorted chronologically, but you can change the timeframe to view Points recorded during a specific time.

Click the time selector in the top, right corner and choose from one of our preset or custom timeframes:

  • Today

  • This week - Points earned since Monday

  • This month - Points earned since the 1st of the month

  • Year to Date - Points earned since July 1st of last summer

  • Custom - choose specific dates, maybe to see Points for a week, quarter, or semester

Download a Timeline CSV

Click "Download" in the bottom right corner to download a CSV of the Timeline you're viewing. Your filters and timeframe will be reflected on the CSV.

Timeline Settings – Sounds, Desktop Notifications, and Separate Rows

Open settings to turn on alerts.

Timeline is a powerful tool for administrators to see what's happening throughout the building in real time and has options for sounds and desktop notifications to alert you when a Point is recorded.

Click Settings, then turn Desktop Alerts and Sounds to "On." If you minimize LiveSchool (while Timeline is open), every time a Point is recorded you'll hear a "ding," and see a desktop notification.

Timeline settings also enable you to Separate Rows. When a Point is recorded for multiple students (or multiple Points for one or more students), you usually see a student's name and "4 MORE" listed next to the student (example below). Turning Separate Rows to "on" places all of those students onto their own row in Timeline, and separates the rows if you need to download a Timeline CSV as well.
