About Their Behavior Rubric

Power Center Academy Middle School - Hickory Hill Campus follow the Three R’s: Ready, Respectful, & Responsible. But for the team who was putting their LiveSchool rubric in place, it was more about specificity and helping teachers know what this looks like in action rather than just using three generic words.

As Kevin Bailey, Dean of Scholars, explained, “We wanted to make sure scholars knew how to earn points and teachers were clear on when to give scholars points in our building.”

This shows up in their rubric by awarding points for arrival and dismissal, checking grades, and completing I-Ready diagnostics. The team designed the rubric so that students would receive some points each day.

PCA Core Values

When the Admin Team developed the rubric, they also included a category just for their school’s core values: Achievement, Community, Humility, Innovation, and Zeal. This is a great way to remind teachers to be on the lookout for when students are exhibiting the school’s core values. Plus, it is an actionable step to show students that these values matter.

Power Center Academy Hickory Hill Middle School is taking the words off the page in the handbook and putting it into action!
