To build a successful PBIS program, Jay Maines went to the root of challenges that inhibit strong relationships between students and teachers to form. This included things like effective teacher support systems when behaviors arose, unclear processes for managing challenges, and a lack of connection between the classrooms, central office, and home environments.

Jay and his team got to rebuilding:

  1. Roles
  2. Expectations
  3. Redirects
  4. Tokens
  5. Fidelity
  6. Home Connections

It worked! In 5 years, the team reduced behavior referrals by 82% and exclusionary disciplines by 93%.
