Margaret Allen Middle School Behavior Rubric

About Their Behavior Rubric

Margaret Allen Middle School, which is located in Metro Nashville Public Schools, follows the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People for its behavior rubric.

Each habit is a separate category:

  • Be Proactive
  • Begin With the End in Mind
  • Put First Things First
  • Think Win-Win
  • Seek First to Understand
  • Synergize
  • Sharpen the Saw

To build the rubric across these categories, the Dean of Students, Site Coordinator, and teachers worked to address what each habit looks like in a school setting.

The answers turned into the rubric items under each category. These are the specific behaviors for which students can earn points. Here are some examples:

  • Attendance is a behavior for Be Proactive
  • Helping a Peer is a behavior for Think Win-Win
  • Collaboration is a behavior for Synergize
