Do students need their own device to use LiveSchool Hall Passes?
No, students don't need their own device to use LiveSchool Hall Passes. Teachers issue a pass from their class roster in two taps, or a school sets up a kiosk on a spare device so students check themselves out. In 1:1 schools, students can also start a pass from their own device in the LiveSchool app.
What devices does LiveSchool Hall Passes work on?
LiveSchool Hall Passes works in any web browser, including on Chromebooks, and in the LiveSchool app for iPhone, iPad, and Android. Any of them can run the hall pass kiosk, and only staff can exit the kiosk with a PIN.
Does the hall pass kiosk work with student ID badges?
Yes, the LiveSchool hall pass kiosk works with student ID badges. Students scan their ID badge, type their ID number, or find their name to take a pass and check back in. Your school picks which methods are available on the kiosk.
Can the nurse approve nurse passes?
Yes, nurses can approve nurse passes in LiveSchool as a pass manager. Add the nurse as a pass manager on the Nurse pass type, and LiveSchool can notify them of new passes and require their approval before a pass starts. Schools can also require a teacher's approval when students start a pass themselves. Approvals are optional and set per pass type.
How do we limit hall passes?
LiveSchool gives schools several ways to limit hall passes. You can set how long each pass type lasts and how many students can be out on it at once. You can cap how many passes a student takes per day or week, for the whole school, a grade, or individual students. And you can block passes at certain times with no-pass schedules, or keep specific students apart with the No Meetup List.
What happens if a student doesn't come back?
When a student doesn't come back on time, LiveSchool can send an overdue alert by push notification and email to the staff your school chooses. The pass also turns red on the teacher's class roster and shows as overdue on the administrator's live dashboard.
Can students and families see hall pass history?
Your school decides if students and families can view hall pass history in LiveSchool. By default, students can see their own passes and families can't. Sensitive pass types, like a counselor visit, show up as a plain "Hall Pass" in their history.
