About Their Behavior Rubric
Bluffton Middle School is in South Carolina’s Beaufort County School District. They designed their PBIS matrix around the following values:
BalanceLeadershipMotivationServiceBluffton’s PBIS team selected these values because they are indicative of the school’s culture, which they wanted to be the foundation of their PBIS work.
Location-Based Behavior Rubric
To build the rubric categories, Bluffton opted to focus on locations in the school:

Having a rubric with more generic rubric items simplifies the process of recording points for teachers. Teachers can easily select the value that best fits a behavior, rather than scrolling through a long list of the multitude of positive and negative behaviors students can take in a certain location.
