About Their Behavior Rubric

Thales Academy Franklin is a K-8 charter school in Tennessee, part of the Thales Academy charter school network.

Thales Academy follows a direct instruction model focused on on-task time, so the leadership team focuses on reducing disruptive behavior and recognizing students for exhibiting values aligned with the Thales mission.

The Thales Behavior Rubric

The behavior rubric has been in place for years and includes the following categories:

  • Astute Problem Solving
  • Communication Skills
  • Competent Technical Skills
  • Continuous Learner
  • Critical Thinker
  • Dreams and Aspirations

Healthy Body, Spirit, and Mind

Each category reflects Thales' core values and includes only positive behaviors. The rubric also consists of a secondary set of categories:

  • Excellence
  • Kindness
  • Respect
  • Responsibility

These categories include positive and negative behaviors, meaning students can earn and lose points related to each.

Over the last year, Thales Academy Franklin recorded over 21,000 behaviors using this rubric!
